Bank of Somaliland

The Baanka Somaliland is the Central Bank of Somaliland, which is also active as a normal commercial bank. It was founded in 1994 October and emits the Somaliland Shilling.
Tasks
According to Article 3 of the Act establishing the Baanka Somaliland are the functions of the Bank:
- Maintaining the stability of the currency internally and externally
- Determination of interest rates in order to ensure a uniform growth of the Somali economy
- Participation in the financial and economic policy of the State of Somaliland.
Line
The Bank is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors. This has sole responsibility for the establishment and closure of branches, determining the capital adequacy ratio of the Bank and for any far-reaching decisions on the organization of the Bank and its monetary policy.
Branches
The Bank has in addition to its main office in Hargeysa seven branches and four foreign exchange offices at the airports of the country.
