Bank Pekao

The Bank Pekao S. A. is a Polish bank headquartered in Warsaw. The company is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in the Polish stock market index WIG 20. Founding and history of the company

In March 1929, the Polish Minister of Finance issued a decree on the establishment of Bank Polska Kasa Opieki Spółka Akcyjna, based on which the bank was founded in October 1929. It was registered shortly in Warsaw. First Director of the Bank was Eugeniusz Baczkowski. The bank was established as a universal bank and thus comprised the asset and liability business, including international financial transactions. One of the main tasks of the Bank was the supply of Polish emigrants to financial services, and therefore, the bank opened in centers of Polish emigrants branches.
