Bannang Sata District

Amphoe Bannang Sata ( Thai: บันนังสตา ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the southern province of Yala. The Yala province is located southeast of the southern region of Thailand, at the border to Malaysia.

Geography

Adjacent counties and regions are ( from north-west clockwise): Amphoe Yaha the, Krong Pinang and Raman Yala province, the Amphoe Rueso and Si Sakhon province of Narathiwat and Amphoe Than To turn in Yala. To the west lies the state of Kedah in Malaysia.

Etymology

The name Bannang Sata is a Thai adaptation of " Benang Setar ", the original Malay name. Benang is a string, setar is a tree with small sour fruits ( Bouea macrophylla).

History

The area of present-day county Bannang Sata was originally a district named Ba Cho ( บาเจาะ ), which was administered in 1907 and set up of the city ( Mueang ) Raman. The name Ba Cho is the Thai adaptation of " Bachok ", the original Malay name. When the government reformed the administration at the beginning of the 20th century, the administration building of the district was transferred to a new stand. At the same time it was renamed in Bannang Sata.

Attractions

  • Tham Krachaeng - an interesting cave at Ban Ka Sot, Tambon Bannang Sa Ta, on the Highway 410 about 50 km from Amphoe Mueang Yala away.
  • Bang Lang Dam - in Tambon Bacho, the first multi-purpose dam in the south

Management

Amphoe Bannang Sata is divided into six subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 50 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

Bannang Sata is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it consists of parts of the tambon Bannang Sata.

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
