Banorte

Banorte is a Mexican company with headquarters in Monterrey.

Banorte has worked as a financial institution in Mexico. The company employed some 20,000 people are employed. The company is managed by Roberto González Barrera. The bank was founded in 1899 under the name of Banco Mercantil de Monterrey SA In 1985 the company merged with the Mexican bank Banco Regional del Norte.

Banorte in 1998 was involved in a money laundering scandal, in which illegal drug funds were laundered. Several senior bank employees were arrested after U.S. investigation by the operation Cassablanca.
