Bantayan (Cebu)

Bantayan is a metropolitan area municipality in the province of Cebu in the Philippines. It has 74 785 inhabitants ( census of 1 May 2010 ) living in 25 barangays. It belongs to the first class of income communities in the Philippines and is described as a partially urbanized.

Geography

It is with 81.68 km ², the largest municipality on the island of Bantayan. Cebu City is about 130 km away and can be reached by ferry from the port in Barangay Hagnaya in San Remigio Cebu Iceland. From Sagay City Negros is also possible by ferry to visit the community. The neighboring municipalities are Madridejos in the north, Santa Fe on the east. The Visayan Sea forms the western and southern boundary. The topography of the municipality is generally described as lowland.
