Baptiste Amar

Baptiste Amar ( born November 11, 1979 in Gap ) is a French ice hockey player who is since 2010 in the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble in Ligue Magnus under contract.

Career

Baptiste Amar started his career as a hockey player with the Lyon Hockey Club, for whom he played in the Ligue Magnus 1997-2000. He then left the club and joined for one season on their league rivals Dragons de Rouen, with whom he was for the first time in his career, French champion at season's end. After this success, the defender left the team and studied for two years at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, for their hockey team he played in parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

In summer 2003, Amar returned to France and signed a contract with the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble, with whom he was very successful in the next six years at the national level. With Grenoble he won the 2007 and 2009 French champion title after 2004 was already made him runner-up team. In the years 2008 and 2009 he won the Coupe de France Grenoble, respectively, in which he and his team only lost in the final in 2004. In the years 2007 and 2009 he won with Grenoble in each case the Coupe de la Ligue, and 2008 and 2009 Trophée des Champions. Also personally was Amar, who was from 2003 to 2007 assistant captain for two years and then captain in Grenoble, won several awards. In the years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, he was selected in each case in the All- Star team in the Ligue Magnus. In the seasons 2007/ 08 and 2008/ 09 he was both awarded the Trophée Albert Hassler as most valuable player of the Ligue Magnus.

For the 2009/10 season Amar was awarded a contract with BK in the Swedish Elitserien Rögle. For this, he scored in the main round in 51 games two goals and five assists and was occupied by the Swedes at the end of the main round the bottom of the table. Then he went with his team in the Kvalserien in the subprime HockeyAllsvenskan from. He then returned to the 2010/11 season to France to Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble back, with which he again won the Coupe de la Ligue in 2011.

Internationally

For France, Amar took at junior level at the U18 Junior B Championship in 1997 and the U20 Junior B World Championships in 1997, 1998 and 1999 in part. In the senior level, he stood in the squad of his country at the B World Championships in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007, and at the A World Championships in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Moreover, he represented France at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. At the World Championships in 2008 and 2010 he was assistant captain of France, respectively, at the 2009 World Cup, he was also elected as one of the three best players of his team.
