Bāqer Khān

Bagher Khan (* 1861 in Tabriz, † October 1916 in Ghaser Shirin, Persian باقر خان ) was one of the military leaders and freedom fighters of the Constitutional Revolution of Iran.

Life

Bagher Khan was in 1861, born in the district Khyaban of Tabriz, the son of Haj Reza Banna, a mason. The district Khyaban one of the oldest districts of Tabriz. Bagher Khan has also worked as a bricklayer before the revolution.

After bombardment of the parliament in Tehran in 1908, Bagher Khan participated under the leadership of Sattar Khan in the battle against the troops of Mohammed Ali Shah, the deposed constitutional government and Parliament had dissolved. After the first defeat of the freedom fighters of Tabriz Bagher Khan initially wanted to give up the fight. Sattar Khan, who was able to keep the district Amir Khiz against the government troops, however, encouraged him to continue the fight against Muhammad Ali Shah.

Under the leadership of Sattar Khan and Bagher Khan constitutional movement could continue to gain in feed and the siege of Tabriz by the troops of Mohammed Ali Shah's are terminated. The Constitutional Municipality of Tabriz awarded him the title of Salar -e- Melli (size of the nation ). The victory of the fighters from Tabriz has ultimately preserved the constitutional movement in Iran before the fall and led to the overthrow of Mohammed Ali Shah.

After the occupation of Tabriz by Russian troops left the freedom fighters and Sattar Khan and Bagher Khan Tabriz and went to Tehran. There they were solemnly received. Bagher Khan left 1916 Tehran direction Ghasre Shirin at the border with Iraq. There he was attacked, robbed and beheaded by a criminal gang. Bagher Khan is described as brave and honest. Bagher Khan had a son named Sadegh Khan.
