Barat Daya Islands

The Indonesian Barat Daya Islands ( German South West ( he ) islands ) located in the Banda Sea and form the extension of the interior of Banda arc to the east.

Geography

Geographically, the islands form the northeastern end of the Lesser Sunda Islands - 10 km north-east of Liran is Atauro. To the west of the road from Ombai is the island of Alor, south is located across the street from Wetar the island of Timor.

The westernmost island is Liran ( Lirang ). It is located off the southwest tip of Wetar, the largest island of the group. Immediately off the northwest coast Wetars is the small island Reong. East of Wetar follow Romang (Roma) with the small islands Njata, Mitan, Tellang, Limtutu, Loud, Kital, Maopora and Djuha and Damar Damar Islands ( Damer ), the atoll Nus Leur, Terbang Utara, Terbang Selatan and Teun before the island chain an arc to the northeast strikes with the islands Nila with Nika, Nile Desperandum, Serua with Kekeh Besar and Manuk.

Politically part of the archipelago, as the islands south-east of it, the government district ( kabupaten ) South Moluccas ( Maluku Province ).
