Barat (wind)

The Barat is strong wind from the northwest, which can occur from December to February in the Manado Bay on the north coast of Sulawesi (Indonesia). He is conditioned by the northern monsoon influence, because warm, moist ( equatorial ) outweigh westerly winds. The peculiarity of the region is that the winds are deflected by the numerous islands of Indonesia and thereby partially channeled closely. This has an impact on the direction and strength of the winds, the resulting change constantly. Likewise, always changed their acceleration. Due to the frequent thunderstorms monitoring and panache, the fierceness of the wind can have devastating proportions.

Barat is the Indonesian term for the West. Example: Papua Barat.
