Barbara Heeb ( born February 13, 1969 in Altstaetten ) is a Swiss cyclist.
Barbara Heeb, one of nine siblings, operation in their youth several sports, including skiing and running. Only at the age of 17 she bought a road bike. For cycling, she decided at age 20, after completing her apprenticeship as a shop assistant.
1996 Barbara Heeb was world road champion. In the same year she was elected in Switzerland "Sportswoman of the Year"; Moreover, a book was published about them: the goal is on the mountain. Four times she won the title of a Swiss road champion; three times she took part in the Olympic Games.
In 1999, she retired from cycling and was active in cross country skiing. Two years later she returned to cycling, but was unable to match their previous successes. In April 2005, Barbara Heeb finally stopped with the cycling.
