Barbara Kanam

Barbara Kanam ( born September 27, 1973 in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo ) is a Congolese musician, record producer and actress.

Life

Barbara Kanam was born as one of twelve children. After schooling and training in foreign trade began in 1991 as a singer and composer in the band Devotion. She worked at the Psalmody Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa, on their singing technique and learned to play guitar. In 1994, she toured with her Acoustic One Woman Show by Central Africa.

In 1995 she moved to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, where she joined a religious choir and later sang in Cocody in Grace Choir. In 1997 she took her studies in foreign trade again.

In 1998 she produced her first album with Kone Dodo Mokili that gave her attention and awareness as well as a nomination for the Kora Awards. Which she won her second album Teti 2003.

Barbara Kanam produced for her own label. She lives in France and is in a relationship with Awilo Longomba.
