Barbara Kopple
Barbara Kopple ( born July 30, 1946 in New York City, New York, USA) is an American film director and film producer who was twice awarded an Academy Award.
Life
The documentary filmmaker studied at the College of West Virginia Clinical Psychology. During her studies Kopple began to turn documentation. In 1972, Kopple went to Kentucky, to document the miners' strike in Harlan County. Kopple remained four years and published in 1976 the documentation Harlan County USA. Rotated from the perspective of the miners and their families documentation in 1977 won an Oscar. Kopples 1990 documentary American Dream incurred over a strike of workers in the food industry has received numerous awards, including an Oscar for Best Documentary.
