Barbara-Rose Collins

Barbara - Rose Collins ( born April 13, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American politician. Between 1991 and 1997, she represented the state of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Barbara Collins attended the public schools of their home and then the Wayne State University. Later, she began a career in politics as a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1971 and 1973 she was a member of the first school board the area of Detroit. From 1975 to 1981, she sat as a Member of the House of Representatives from Michigan; 1982-1991 she served on the city council of Detroit.

In 1988, Collins was a candidate yet unsuccessfully for Congress. In the congressional elections of 1990, it was then but in the 13th Election District of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they became the successor of George W. Crockett on January 3, 1991. After two re- elections she was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1997 three legislative periods. They represented since 1993 as the successor of William D. Ford the 15th district; the electoral districts were replaced this year. In 1996, Barbara Collins was not nominated by their party for re-election.

Since 2002 she is again a member of the City Council of Detroit.
