Barbara Schlick

Barbara Schlick ( born July 21, 1943 in Würzburg ) is a German soprano.

Life

She studied voice at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, and among other things, with Hilde Wesselmann in Essen. Early on, she turned to focus on the oratorio and lieder.

In 1966 she was a soloist with the Baroque ensemble of Adolf Scherbaum and earned a name in the following years as an interpreter of baroque and classical music, especially the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. In 1971 she undertook a tour of Russia in 1972 by the United States. 1975 to 1976 she toured Israel and the USA again.

Schlick was in the musical centers of Europe as a whole on the stage, for example in London at several concerts and Haydn in Amsterdam, where she sang the soprano solo in Mozart's Requiem. She was a soloist at the Festival events from Bordeaux, Paris, Bruges, Berlin and Munich. In 1980, she guested in Orfeo ed Euridice by Joseph Haydn at the Stadttheater Bern, 1988, she sang at the York Early Music Festival, 1989 and again in 1994 at the Handel Festival in Göttingen.

When radio and television, she has had numerous performances in Germany, Austria, France, Czech Republic, Italy, Belgium and Luxembourg. In addition, Barbara Schlick taught for eleven years at the Musikhochschule in Würzburg. Since 1997 she has been Professor at the Academy of Music in Cologne, Wuppertal and worked until 2002 as a guest lecturer at the Conservatorium Maastricht.
