Barbara Stamm

Barbara Stamm born Stocker ( born October 29, 1944 in Bad Mergentheim ) is a German politician (CSU ) and President of the Bavarian Parliament. She pulled at the state election in 2008 as a single list candidate for the constituency of Lower Franconia for the CSU in the state parliament.

Life

Barbara Stamm is a trained teacher and worked until 1970 in this profession. She was also an active volunteer in the Diocese of Würzburg. After the birth of her first child, she worked part-time as an educator continues.

Her professional background as an educator helped that she holds the honorary chairman of the function of Self-Help National Association Bavaria.

Strain is married and the mother of three children. Her daughter Claudia is a politician and member of parliament of Alliance 90/The Greens.

At the annual carnival event " Fastnacht in Franken" was dedicated to her " brothers fool " for many years a special presentation of that again and again to present a new Ulklied about them. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Bavarian League.

Policy

Strain is a CSU member since 1969 and was from 1972 to 1987 Member of the Würzburg city council. She is currently deputy chairman of the CSU. From 1988 to 1994 she was Secretary of State. From 1994 to 2001 she was a Bavarian Social and Health Minister and resigned because of the BSE scandal. From 1998 to 2001 she was also Deputy Prime Minister of Bavaria. From 2003 to 2008 she was Vice President of the Bavarian Parliament, to which it belongs since 1976.

Since 20 October 2008 she is the President of the 16th Bavarian Parliament.

Strain is a member of the Board of Trustees of Jakob Fugger Medal of the Association of Bavarian newspaper publisher, which is awarded in memory of the Augsburg merchant Jakob Fugger Lord at irregular intervals for " outstanding achievements and extraordinary achievements in the periodical press ."
