Barbara Strozzi

Barbara Strozzi ( baptized August 6, 1619 in Venice, † November 11, 1677 in Padua ) was an Italian composer of the Baroque.

Life and work

Barbara Strozzi was born in 1619 in Milan. She was the adopted daughter and probably the biological daughter of the jurist, poet and librettist Giulio Strozzi ( 1583-1652 ). This founded in 1637 the " Accademia degli unisons ," prior to their members Barbara Strozzi recited and sang his own works.
