Barbara Walters

Barbara Jill Walters ( born September 25, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States) is an American journalist and television presenter.

Life

Barbara Walters was born on Sept. 25, 1929 in Boston / Massachusetts as the daughter of immigrants from Eastern Europe Jewish producer and nightclub owner Lou Walters and his wife, Dena, born Selett, and initially grew up in a wealthy family. When her father later went bankrupt and suffered a heart attack, it was W., to support her parents and her disabled sister. After graduating from high school, she studied until 1953 at the Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville.

Walters worked as a secretary, then as a writer for several television stations ( WNBC TV, WPIX, CBS TV). In 1961 she joined the morning's "Today Show" the " National Broadcasting Company" ( NBC).
