Barbata

Barbata is a municipality in the Province of Bergamo in the Italian region Lombardy with 688 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012).

Geography

Barbata is located about 33 km southeast of the provincial capital of Bergamo. Districts are Cascina Cà scotta and Fornaci.

The neighboring municipalities are Antegnate, Camisano (CR), Casaletto di Sopra (CR), Covo, Fontanella and Isso.

History

Although the settlement probably existed already in the 13th century, the place only in the Lombardo - Venetian kingdom independent municipality with 418 inhabitants ( 1853) was. The highest population reached barbata at the first census of the Republic of Italy in 1951 with 942, since the trend is decreasing.
