Bärbel Podeswa

Bärbel Podeswa (born Weidlich, born 8 December 1946 in Naumburg ( Saale) ), is a former German hurdler and sprinter who competed for East Germany in the 1960s.

In 1968, she won at the European Indoor Games in Madrid silver over 50 meters hurdles.

The European Athletics Championships 1969 in Athens, she won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 meters relay with the team of the GDR in 43.6 s ( together with Renate Meißner, Regina Höfer and Petra Vogt ) and was second in the 100 - meter hurdles ( 13.6 seconds).

Bärbel Podeswa is 1,60 m tall and weighed in their active time: 56 kg. She started for the SC Chemie Halle. In 1970 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
