Barboursville is a town in Knox County in the U.S. state of Kentucky. Geography

The town is located within the mining area north of a loop of the meandering Cumberland River in the southeast of the state. The city covers an area of 9.0 km ².

History

The town was formed in 1800, when a certain James Barbour assured the local land rights. The environment has been explored in 1750 by Dr. Thomas Walker and Richard Ballinger.
