Barbus catenarius is a dwarf barb species from West Africa. It is only known from the Kouilou in the Republic of Congo.

Features

Barbus catenarius is 4.5 cm long and has a typical bar shape. The mouth is inferior and is surrounded by two pairs Bartel, of which the front reach the 0.75 to 1.05 times the diameter of eyes, while the rear with the 1.1 to 1.75, it is fachend eyes diameter longer. The lateral line is complete.

The scales are striated radially.

Barbus catenarius is yellow to orange color. The back is more brown, the ventral surface white. Three to five elongated spots forming a longitudinal band on the body sides. The scales of the upper half of the body have brown edges or are completely dark. Dorsal, anal and caudal fins are reddish.
