Barbute

As Barbuta or Celata in the 14th and 15th centuries, common, Italian variant of Beck hood is called. The helmet bowl of Barbuta covered the head and neck of the wearer almost completely and had an approximately T- or Y-shaped face opening. Some variants had a nose piece, resulting in a strong resemblance to the Corinthian helmet of ancient Greece revealed. Since the Barbuta protection offered enough to aggravate sensitive without vision and breathing, they also found outside Italy brisk proliferation. In the late 15th century it was replaced by other species such as the helmet Armet and the Schaller.
