Barcelos is a Brazilian city in the state of Amazonas with 25 318 inhabitants ( 2008) and a community area of 122,476 km ².
The community is bigger than several Brazilian states - see administrative divisions of Brazil - which population density is found to be 0.23 per km ².
The town, located on the right bank of the Rio Negro was founded in 1931. It is located 396 km northwest of Manaus in a straight line, the river there are 496 kilometers upstream.
