Barclays Africa Group

Absa Bank Limited as part of the Absa Group is the largest commercial bank in South Africa. The largest shareholder with 55 % good is Barclays Bank PLC.

Foreign business

On 2 May 2008, Absa has received the approval of the Bank of Namibia under the name Absa Bank Namibia was the first foreign bank. Due to the global economic crisis, the recording business was postponed again and again. On 10 November 2009, the first office opened in Windhoek. These first works exclusively for major customers; the establishment of a branch network and the expansion of services to private customers is long-term planning, but was rejected by the Bank of Namibia in early July 2010.
