Bardenas Reales

Bardenas [ baɾðenaz real ] is a semi-desert in the south of the Spanish autonomous community of Navarre, which covers an area of 415 km ².

Most of the Bardenas is protected as a nature park since 1999. On 7 November 2000, the Bardenas by UNESCO was declared a Biosphere Reserve.

Characteristic of the Bardenas is the bizarre landscape, which consists in large part of ocher clay. Canceling the dry earth, however, is prohibited in the Biosphere Reserve.

The Bardenas are an unincorporated community. Beneficial owner of several neighboring municipalities, the municipalities of two Pyrenean valleys and a monastery, which are combined for this purpose Comunidad de Bardenas Reales de Navarra.
