Bargfeld is a village and district of the municipality Eldingen in Lower Saxony. It is located northeast of Hanover in the triangle between Celle and Uelzen Wolfsburg at the confluence of Lutter with the narrow- water and further south with the Köttelbeck.

History

The village Bargfeld was first documented mention in 1065. Since 1973 it belongs to the political community Eldingen and with this to Samtgemeinde Lachendorf in the district of Celle.

On the southern edge of the village stands a more than four hundred years of huge linden tree. Bargfeld is part of the Nature Park South Heath.

From 1953 to 1967 Bargfeld had its own elementary school. It is served by the mobile library of the district Celle every 14 days; Breakpoint is outside the inn ( pictured right ).

The club unity Bargfeld founded in 1891, held every year in February, his multi-day Faslam with costumed procession through the village and social events. Every year in late autumn organized by the volunteer fire department was established in 1934 Bargfeld their Bargfelder torchlight and lantern parade with music for children and parents. It is integrated into the county fire department rescue of the district of Celle.

The sculptor Gotthelf Schlotter lived from 1945 to 1951 in Bargfeld and then returned again and again back to his self- built house there. At the south end of the village stands since 2006, his bronze sculpture The call of the cranes.

1958 bought the writer Arno Schmidt through the mediation of the painter Eberhard Schlotter the couple from Reetz ( IDPs ) 1953 self- built house for " almost 17,000 DM ." Until 1979 he lived and worked here with his wife Alice. Their estate now serves the residents in Bargfeld Arno Schmidt Foundation, which also maintains a small museum here. Under the name " Hill Field ", " Giffendorf " and " Schadewalde " the village in Schmidt appears after 1958, published short stories and novels.

On 1 January 1973 Bargfeld was incorporated into the municipality Eldingen.

Just outside the town is the Antiquarian Books The house, which has mainly specialized in Arno Schmidt and Karl May.
