Bârghiș
Barghis ( German Bürgisch or Bürgesch, Hungarian Bürkös, Transylvanian Saxon Berjesch ) is a municipality in the district of Sibiu in Transylvania, Romania.
Location
The place is located in Barghis Harbach Highlands, nine kilometers from Agnita ( Agnetheln ) and 65 kilometers from the county capital Sibiu ( Hermannstadt), in the North -east of the district of the same.
History
The town was first mentioned in 1357 under the name possessio Byrges. Mid-17th century is occupied by the Saxons, the establishment of a church.
Barghis was Administratively during the 20th century, a large village. Apart from the actual village ( Magarei ) Vecerd ( Wetscherd ) and Zlagna ( Schlattmann ) are now also the villages of APOS ( Attersee in Agnetheln ) Ighişu Vechi ( Wallachian Eibesdorf ) Pelişor also managed as Katastralgemeinden.
Municipal policy and infrastructure
The Local Council of Barghis belong to eleven members. Mayor is the Social Liberal Gheorghe Mândreanu.
Education
The community Barghis has three kindergartens and five elementary schools.
Economy and Social
Agriculture and Trade dominate has always been the working life of the people in the community. There are annual cattle fairs on 23 April and 14 September.
Traffic
The municipality lies at an important crossroads for regional traffic. Here, from Medias, ( Medias ) pushes on MOŠNA ( Mosna ) next county road " DJ 141 " on the Harbach valley road " DJ 106 ", Sibiu (Hermannstadt) connects with Agnita ( Agnetheln ).
