Community structure
The community Bargstedt consists of two districts. These are the villages and Bargstedt Ohrensen. In addition, the village like Hoop and the nature reserve francs Moor residing in the township.
History
Place name
Old names: 1233 Bergstede.
The spelling of the name has changed in the Middle Ages of Bergstede and Berckstede to Bargstedt. This is based on a Middle Low German phonetic change of -er- to -ar- based. The meaning of the name is as a mountain - site so construed settlement on the mountain, which matches the location of the place.

On 1 July 1972, the neighboring community Ohrensen was incorporated.
On 1 July 1972, a part of the territory with at that time about 100 inhabitants on the spot Harsefeld was ceded.

Coat of arms
The coat of arms of the municipality Bargstedt was designed in 1960.
Blazon: The coat of arms of the municipality Bargstedt shows in the form of a shield on a blue background including an upwardly arched foot in green. The green sign foot of the coat of arms is topped with a transversely directed to the right sword in silver. On this sign foot is a baptismal font, which is increased from a three-leaf linden branch. Both font and Linden branch are silver.
Meaning: the upwardly arched sign foot should be pointed at the name part Barg. The spelling of the name has changed since the early Middle Ages: from Bergstede or Berckstede into today Bargstedt.
Structures
The Protestant Church of St. Primus 1801 is a perfect hall building, the tower of which was in 1959 replaced by a bell tower. Remarkably, the 1970 completed stained glass windows by Charles Crodel is in the Hall of Honour.
