Bariatrics

The Bariatric (from Greek βαρος: Heavy, weight) is a multidisciplinary medical specialty that deals with the treatment, prevention, epidemiology, and the causes of overweight and particularly obesity. The term originated in the 60s at the same time with the surgical treatment options for obesity. The bariatric surgery is also known under the term bariatric surgery.
