Baring Mountain

Mount Baring, or Baring Mountain, is a mountain in the Cascade Range in the U.S. state of Washington. It is located about three kilometers north-east of the Skykomish River, which flows with Everett in the Puget Sound. The area around Mount Baring is part of the Mount Baker - Snoqualmie National Forests.

As the nearby Mount Index Mount Baring is also a very prominent mountain due to steep slopes. The River Skykomish flows at an altitude of only about 232 meters above sea level, far below the mountain. The less than a kilometer north-east of the summit location Barclay Lake is located at an altitude of 1128 meters. This Mount Baring has a saddle height of about 740 meters.

The first recorded ascent was carried out on 28 July 1897 by John Charlton and Albert H. Sylvester. The fact that Native Americans were already taking one of the easier routes to the summit long before the famous first ascent, is considered likely. The normal route via the northwest ridge. It runs off of paths, partly through wood, and requires increased climbing near the summit. Some climbing routes on the northeast side of the summit area are extremely long and reach places, the level V of difficulty.
