Barkly West ( Afrikaans: Barkly - Wes ) is a county seat of the municipality Dikgatlong, Frances Baard District in the province of Northern Cape in South Africa. 2011, the town had 8,258 inhabitants.

Barkly West adjacent to Kimberley. In 1869 it was established as Klip Drift. After the discovery of diamonds in the colony of Griqualand West, it was awarded and the name was changed in Barkly West. How Barkly East, the city is named after Henry Barkly, who was from 1870 to 1877 governor of the Cape Colony.
