Barney Battles, Sr.

Bernard " Barney " Battles ( born January 13, 1875 in Glasgow, † February 9, 1905 ) was a Scottish football player.

Career

Born in Glasgow in 1875 Bernard Battles played from the early 1890s until his death in 1905 professional football; while he stood at ten clubs under contract. Among his most famous stations include Heart of Midlothian, Celtic Glasgow, where he played intermittently three times, the Dundee FC and Liverpool FC. The latter was his only stop outside Scotland.

1901, when he was at Celtic Glasgow under contract, Battles played his only three caps for the Scottish national team

Bernard Battles died in 1905 at the age of 30 years. His son Bernard Battles junior later played professional football also.
