Barnwell County is a county located in the state of South Carolina in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Barnwell.

Geography

The County is located in the southwest of South Carolina, bordered by Georgia and has an area of 1443 square kilometers, of which 23 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Aiken County, Bamberg County, Orangeburg County, Allendale County and Burke County ( Georgia).

History

Barnwell County was formed in 1798. It was named after living there Barnwell family.
