Barolo, Piedmont

Barolo is an Italian municipality with 713 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont. Here the famous eponymous red wine is grown. Within the community is the Cannubi Hill one of the most famous wine regions, but it is cultivated since Roman times with Nebbiolo grapes. The neighboring municipalities are Falletto Castiglione, La Morra, Monforte d' Alba, Novello and Narzole.

Geography

The location is situated 51 km from the provincial capital of Cuneo at an altitude of 310 m above sea level. The municipality covers 5.59 km ².

Attractions

The small village has a medieval castle, and a local history museum.

Economy

The place is known primarily through named after him, globally respected red wine Barolo.
