Baron Coleraine

Baron Coleraine is a title that existed so far three times, twice in the Peerage of Ireland and once in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. The first creation was in 1625 in the Peerage of Ireland for Hugh Hare. This title became extinct with the death of the third Baron in 1749.

The second edition was made ​​in 1762 in the Peerage of Ireland in favor of Gabriel Hanger. This was successively Member of Parliament for Maidstone and Bridgwater. The third Baron was of the constituencies East Retford, Aldborough and Mitchell in the House of Commons. The fourth Baron was a soldier and eccentric politician, after his death in 1824 the title became extinct.

For the third time in 1954 the title was in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, as the conservative politician Richard Law for Baron Coleraine of Haltemprice in the East Riding of Yorkshire was created. He was the youngest son of former Prime Minister Andrew Bonar Law. Since the death of his eldest son Richard Law 1980 has held the title.
