Baron de Saumarez

Baron de Saumarez, from the island of Guernsey is a British hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, which is run by the family Saumarez.

The family seat was previously Shrubland Park near Ipswich in Suffolk, which was sold in 2006, than the present Baron returned to Guernsey.

Award

The title was created in 1831 for the famous Admiral James Saumarez. He had participated in many important naval battles of the Napoleonic Wars. In addition, he had commanded over many years the ships of the Royal Navy in the Baltic Sea.

Another title

The first Baron was in 1801 a baronet of Guernsey, where, after he had defeated a French- Spanish Federation in the Second naval battle of Algeciras. This title will be out today.
