Baron Skelmersdale

Baron Skelmersdale, of Skelmersdale in the County Palatine of Lancaster, is a British hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, which is run by the family Bootle - Wilbraham.

Award

The title was created in 1828 for Edward Bootle - Wilbraham. This had represented since 1795 almost without interruption various constituencies in the House of Commons.

Another title

The second Baron was a prominent conservative politician of his time. He was, among others, for many years Chief Whip of the Conservatives in the House of Lords and Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard.
