Baronville

Baronville ( German Baron Weiler, 1941-44 Barenweiler ) is a commune with 410 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Forbach and Canton Grostenquin.

Geography

Baronville is located about 40 kilometers southeast of Metz and 16 kilometers northeast of Chateau- Salins at an altitude 251-322 m above sea level. The municipality covers 6.18 km ².

Neighboring municipalities are Landroff in the north, Harprich in the northeast, Morhange the east and southeast, Achain in the south and Destry in the West.

History

The town was first mentioned as 896 Barrunvillam. Then Baran village ( 1361 ), Barendorff ( 1383, 1454 & 1461 ).

Culture and sights

Sites include a church of 1857, which includes the pillars of a church in Romanesque style from the 12th century. The old church was destroyed in 1850.

Economy and infrastructure

In Baronville several major roads meet (D 674 of Nancy to Sarreguemines, D 999 of Metz and after Dieuze, D 20 of Faulquemont and after Delme ). The nearest railway station is located in the neighboring municipality Morhange.

Industries are forestry with a sawmill and agriculture. There are cereals and vegetables are grown and bred poultry.
