Barotac Viejo, Iloilo

Barotac Viejo (Filipino: Bayan ng Barotac Viejo, Hiligaynon: Sangguniang Bayan Barotac Viejo ) is a metropolitan area municipality in the province of Iloilo on Panay Island in the Philippines. It has 41,470 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 26 barangays. It belongs to the third income class municipalities in the Philippines and is described as a village.

Barotac Viejo is located opposite on the eastern coast of the island of Panay, on the Guimaras Strait, the island of Negros. The capital of the province, Iloilo City is located, about 55 km southwest of the community and can be reached from there by bus or jeepney. The neighboring municipalities are Banate in the West, Lemery and San Rafael in the north, Ajui in the east. The topography of the municipality is determined by lowlanders and a hilly landscape in the island interior.
