Barret Jackman

Barret Jackman ( born March 5, 1981 in Trail, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League.

Career

As a junior he played for the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League. There he became the youngest player in the history of the team captain. The Under-18 national team he captained to the gold medal. In the NHL Entry Draft in 1999, brought the St. Louis Blues to defender with leadership qualities in the first round as the 17th he remained for two years in Regina. During this time he also played twice with Canada at the Junior World Cup and the Blues took him for two AHL playoff games with the Worcester IceCats.

The Blues hasty nothing and let him play in the 2001/ 02 season at the farm team in Worcester. Only for a game they brought him into the NHL. For the season 2002/ 03 they set him in their defense alongside veteran Al MacInnis. While MacInnis took over the offensive duties Jackman played the defensive part and gave also with his 190 penalty minutes the respect of his opponents. Despite well-known competition from Henrik Zetterberg and Rick Nash, it was decided in the election for the Calder Memorial Trophy for Jackman, who scored only 19 points scorer. A shoulder injury threw him back in the 2003/04 season and he could only deny 15 games.

The strike season 2004/ 05 he spent at the Missouri River Otters in the UHL. He then returned to St. Louis and has been almost continuously a regular for the Blues.

In 2007 he won the Hockey World Cup with Team Canada.
