The Barrie Speedway opened in 1965 motorsport race in Barrie (Ontario), Canada. He was at the time of its opening, the first paved oval just north of Toronto. The track was originally a 0.25 -mile oval, and comparable to that of the other route configuration with the former Martinsville Speedway.

In 1999, the track was widened and increased the slope in the curves. In the same year joined the track owner of the Barrie Speedway. Since then, the route has been renewed. In 2004 the route was then modernized. Grandstands and pits were changed and repave the track.

NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in Barrie

Since 2005, the former CASCAR Super Series, today's NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race bears on this route. The first official NASCAR race at Barrie Speedway was held on 1 July 2007. Mark Dilley started from the pole position. D. J. Kennington won the race.
