Barrington Watson
Barrington Watson ( born January 9, 1931 in Lucea, Hanover Parish, Jamaica ) is a Jamaican painter and writer.
Life
After visiting the Kingston College, he emigrated to London, where he studied at the London School of Printing and Graphic Art and the Royal College of Art. Before he returned to Jamaica in 1961, he stayed on, among others, in Amsterdam, Paris and Madrid.
In 1962, he became the first director of the newly formed Jamaica School of Art Later he founded in his native country, various organizations and institutions, including the Contemporary Jamaican Artists Association (1964) and the Jamaica Art Foundation (1985).
He published with Shades Of Grey also a collection of short stories.
The main theme of his works is the life of the population.
