The Barrois is a French landscape in Lorraine, which officially is called Pays Barrois since 1995. In essence, the Barrois line with the historical Duchy of Bar

The entire population of the Barrois is 69,800 inhabitants (1999).

The Pays Barrois is up to 451m high plateau which is traversed by the rivers Saulx, Ornain and Chée. It is roughly the southwestern quarter of the department of Meuse. The historic capital of the landscape is Bar-le- Duc. Other major places in Barrois are Ligny -en-Barrois, Revigny -sur- Ornain and Gondrecourt -le- Château.
