The Barron River is a river in northern Algonquin Provincial Park in eastern Ontario in Canada.

It is a south running tributary of the Petawawa River. The Barron River leaves the lake Stratton Lake near the Achray campground and joins the Petawawa River near the town of Petawawa.

About 10,000 years ago formed the Barron River a main flow of glacial melt water in this region. It is believed that he was for a short period of outflow of the historic Lake Lake Agassiz. The 100 -meter-deep Barron Canyon was created during this time. The rocks that crop out in the canyon, are part of the Canadian Shield. A popular canoe route runs through the canyon. A hiking trail leads to the edge of the gorge.

The Barron River flows through a fault zone of the Ottawa - Bonnechere trench.

Along the river course are several waterfalls, including Brigham Chute and the High Falls.

The river was the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century an important transport route. His volumes of water were regulated for the purpose of timber rafting.
