Barry County (Missouri)

The Barry County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 35 597 inhabitants and a population density of 17.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Cassville, which was named after Lewis Cass, a governor of the Michigan Territory.

Geography

The County is located almost in the extreme southwest of Missouri, on the south by Arkansas, is located in the west about 50 miles from Oklahoma and Kansas and has an area of 2048 square kilometers, of which 31 square kilometers are water surface. It borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Barry County was formed on January 5, 1835 from parts of Greene County. It was named after William Taylor Barry (1784-1835) from Kentucky, who served as U.S. Postmaster General from 1829 to 1835.
