Barry Dennen

Barry Dennen ( born February 22, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American film and theater actor.

Life

Barry Dennen as a young man moved to New York City, where he celebrated Shakespearean actor first successes. He stood both in Henry V as well as The Taming of the Shrew on stage. In 1968, he stood in a double episode of the television series Batman for the first time in front of the film camera. Shortly thereafter moved Dennen to England, where he lived for a period of nearly 15 years. Here he was in 1969, among other things in theater on stage.

After a few appearances in British television series, such as Hadleigh or Paul Temple got Dennen 1971 offers his most famous role. In Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber convinced Dennen in the role of Pontius Pilate. The musical was first taken between October 1971 and June 1973 268mal on Broadway to the performance. When the director Norman Jewison 1973 it adapted the film of the same name, Dennen could be won again in the role of the Roman governor.

Barry Dennen was able to build only partly on the success of Jesus Christ Superstar. In Ring of Passion 1978 in which it came to the boxing match between Max Schmeling and Joe Louis, was Dennen as Adolf Hitler in front of the camera. Another small supporting role he played in 1983 in Superman III - The steel flash. His last appearance before the camera was held in 1997, when he also completed a cameo appearance in James Cameron's film Titanic.

Since 1998, Dennen has largely withdrawn from acting, and works as a voice actor in the production of video games.

In 1997 he published his autobiography, My Life With Barbra: A Love Story. In it, he discusses the brief relationship with Barbra Streisand, which he led in the early 1960s. He also pleaded guilty to this book openly admitted his homosexuality.
