Barry Malkin

Barry M. Malkin ( born October 26, 1938) is an American editor who was especially famous for his decades- long collaboration with Francis Ford Coppola.

Life

Barry Malkin worked as a trainee film editor Dede Allen in the film The Unbreakable, when he met the American director and editor Aram Avakian, who repeatedly visited Allen and then Malkin also engaged as assistants for the intersection of Lilith. Avakian it was then that Malkin, having already initiated with The Patty Duke Show, The Fat Spy and Reprisal Act of its first autonomous sections, the young Francis Ford Coppola presented. After Coppola had determined that Malkin and he grew up in the same neighborhood in Queens, he hired him for the cut of his fourth feature film The Rain People.

The long-standing collaboration with Coppola, however, did not sit in 1972 with The Godfather one, but only with the sequel The Godfather - Part II For this he received his first nomination for a prestigious film award, namely for the BAFTA Award for Best Editing. Also for the sequel The Godfather - Part III, he was nominated. He received an Oscar nomination for Best Editor.

Barry Malkin is a member of the American Cinema Editors.
