Barry Morse

Barry Morse ( born June 10, 1918 in Shoreditch as Herbert Morse, † February 2nd 2008 in London) was a British theater and film actor.

Career

Born in London's East End, began his career when he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art at the age of 15 years. The actress Dame Sybil Thorndike took special note of his abilities and gave him many gigs across the UK. Morse had already participate in the first live television broadcasts of the BBC in the late 1930s.

In the early 1950s he moved to Canada and worked as an actor in various theaters in the CBC Radio and CBC TV. He was best known for his role as Lt.. Gerard in the TV series The Fugitive ( The Fugitive ). Barry Morse played the role of the police so convincing that many viewers took his role so seriously that they sent him hundreds of angry letters, he should let Dr. Kimble in peace. In 1975, he played the role of Professor Bergman in the British television series Space: 1999 ( Moonbase Alpha 1 ). Although he played only in the first season, Morse is very popular even today in fan circles.

In 1945, he auditioned for the BBC in one of the famous Paul Temple radio plays by Francis Durbridge, the role of the title character, namely, in the miniseries Send for Paul Temple again with Marjorie Westbury as Steve at his side. The radio play content corresponded to the later remake Paul Temple and the Alex, only the name of the villain at the time was still Rex.

Barry Morse played over 3,000 roles in theater, television and radio and was active until 2007. His career spanned seven decades.
