Barry Trotz

Despite Barry ( born July 15, 1962 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach, who played during his playing career for the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League. Since 1997 he has been head coach of the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League.

Career

As a player was despite the early 1980s for the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League active.

From 1990, he worked for two years assistant coach with the Baltimore Skipjacks of the American Hockey League, in 1992 promoted him to head coach. In 1993 he moved within the league to the Portland Pirates, with whom he won the 1994 Calder Cup.

On August 6, 1997 Barry was appointed Despite head coach of the newly formed Nashville Predators, who received the operation of gambling in the 1998/99 season. Despite leading the Predators since 2004, four times in a row in the play-offs, but he failed every time with the Predators in the first round. Despite Barry is also in the 2012/13 season head coach of the Predators, so that he currently holds the record for the most disputed as Coaches a team since its inception and is also the longest-serving coach in the NHL.

On 30 March 2012, he recorded his 500th NHL victory as a head coach in the regular season, as the Nashville Predators won 4-1 at the Detroit Red Wings.
