Barry Zito

Barry William Zito ( born May 13, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada) is an American baseball player who played for the 2007 season as a left-handed starting pitcher ( LHP ) for the San Francisco Giants in Major League Baseball.

Career

Barry went to the Catholic University of San Diego High School in San Diego, USDHS short. He continued his academic career at the University of California at Santa Barbara ( UCSB ). Then, in 1998, he was NCAA Baseball champion with the University of Southern California ( USC). He was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of the draft in 1999 and was awarded a contract for U.S. $ 1.59.

In 2002 he won the Cy Young Award for best pitcher for the American League just ahead of Pedro Martínez. In 2002 and 2003 he was nominated as a pitcher for the American League All-Star team. With the end of the 2006 season, his contract ran out at the Oakland Athletics. For the 2007 season was sold to the San Francisco Giants and got there a contract for 126 mil. Biography
